Biblical Classical Pedagogy
There are particular ways that Biblical Classical Education imparts the True, the Good and the Beautiful in its pedagogy. It’s historically Christian and has historically been a part of America’s education for her first 200 years. Education drastically altered in America around the 1800s. Accountability for the degredation of education in America goes to Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel, Horace Mann and John Dewey. To help keep and restore Liberty in America, education needs to return to Biblical Classical pedagogy.
What is pedagogy? It’s a fancy word for “instruction in the first rudiments; preparatory discipline.”

Biblical Classical Pedagogy is a Christ-centered educational approach that is infused with the Bible. It emphasizes:
- God’s sovereignty and providence
- Christ as the Focal Point of all history
- God’s Word as relevant and applicable to life
- reasoning from Biblical principles
- the Principles of Liberty for men and nations
- governmental thinking
- character development
- education involves internal changes and forming Biblical convictions
- honoring the individual subject
- making connections between each subject
- God advances the Gospel through each subject
With the Bible at the heart of Biblical Classical Education’s pedagogy, minds are renewed and the heart of the individual— inclined toward God— is reached. The biblical foundations in each lesson give student’s eyes to see the True, the Good and the Beautiful.
What is Biblical Classical Education?
In short, Biblical Classical Education is time-tested and proven. At its core it is the historical way Christians have learned and matured in the Christian faith. Its methods of turning to and reasoning from God’s Word were practiced by America’s Forefathers, Founding Fathers and Americans for her first 200 years.
Its model focuses on teaching Grammar (biblical worldview definitions and biblical principles), Logic (biblical thinking, reasoning and application), and Rhetoric (the art of speaking well) to each age. It recognizes that students have the God-given design to learn all of these regardless of their age. In this way the whole child is taught. Skill levels and mastery will vary by age and individual child.
The Importance of Biblical Classical Pedagogy
The role of the teacher is to learn, do and disciple. The student cannot be greater than his or her teacher (Luke 6:40). The teacher needs to learn and apply biblical methods in order to disciple. As the teacher does this, the teacher is able to lead the student in Biblical thinking and guide the student in biblical reasoning. The Holy Spirit will do the work of drawing the student toward God.
Students are given the tools they need for learning how to discover biblical truths for themselves. Students are taught those tools in K-12 as a part of the Biblical Classical Trivium.
