History | WWII Una Storia Segreta

This is a self-paced, online course for high school students. It is based on the book Una Storia Segreta, which is based on letters and personal experiences of Italian immigrants. Students will need a copy of Una Storia Segreta, edited by Lawrence DiStasi, for assigned readings. Most of the course’s lessons are based on the chapters from this book.

The secret history of Italian-American evacuation and internment during WWII is a compelling narrative and complicated history.

In this course, students learn to:

• objectively analyze this piece of modern American history
• consider various angles
• learn how to ask useful questions
• view things through a biblical worldview and providential view lens
• see how God uses all things for the good of those who love Him
• consider the character of the individuals in the book
• comprehend the cause-to-effect of choices made by individuals and nations
• understand the biblical worldview of immigration and need for immigration laws
• learn from mistakes to hopefully help prevent them from happening again
• nurture a love of history and American civics and government

This course is a one-time purchase for Christian homeschool families and may be used repeatedly for immediate family members, living in their household. This course will remain available for the life of Biblical Classical Community. Therefore, families with multiple children can use this course for their future high school homeschool students.
