The Timeline
Biblical Classical Education uses a History of Liberty Timeline. Teachers and students use this particular kind of timeline to teach the rise and fall of Liberty throughout history. Also, each academic subject is taught with the use of the timeline.

Not only is the timeline a helpful visual aid, it also aids teachers and students in retaining what they learn in each academic subject. Plus, it helps them to remember the cause to effect of particular events, individuals, institutions, and documents. This makes it possible for them to follow chains of thought regarding the rise and fall of Liberty with its causes to effects.
The Context
Teaching with context includes the Greater Context and Particular Contexts. Additionally, context is taught on the History of Liberty Timeline with the following ideas:

- Creation, how and why man’s reasoning was corrupted
- the General Revelation of nations and how the story of Liberty moves forward (or else is held back)
- cause to effect
- restoring God’s idea of Liberty for the individual and nations
- eternity future
The Cause to Effect on the Timeline
Using the timeline gives teachers and students more than disconnected facts and dates to memorize. More than that, they learn about where an academic subject fits in relation to the Big Picture on the timeline. This includes considering things like the following questions:
- “Who or What is the first cause, source, or origin of an academic subject?”
- “When was the academic subject created?”
- “How does God use a particular academic subject to advance the Gospel throughout history?”
- “How does a particular academic subject advance God’s idea of Liberty for individuals and nations?”
- “In what way is a particular academic subject used to advance tyranny, anarchy or slavery of the individual or nations?
- “What Principles of Liberty are being honored or violated? How? What is the effect of either?”
Tracing Liberty on the Timeline
As Biblical Classical teachers and students trace Liberty on the timeline, they ask the following kinds of questions:
- “Who does God use to advance His idea of Liberty?”
- “What does a particular geographical location have to do with Liberty advancing or being hindered? How does that relate to the context?”
- “What events take place to advance God’s idea of Liberty for the individual and nations?”
- “Which institutions contribute to the cause of Liberty for the individual and nations? In what way(s)?”
- “What are the documents that help advance or hinder Liberty? How do they do either of those?”
